Contrology therapy private session – Contrology therapy is based on physical exercises the aim of which is to maintain, improve or restore a body’s movement ability and prevent injuries. The main goal is to help a client with problems from bad body usage or injuries to get back to normal life and work as quickly and effectively as possible.
During a session the teacher/consultant assesses the nature of the problem – genesis, possible accompanying disorders and/or restrictions in movement. Teacher evaluates the overall condition and also addresses the rest of the body. Attention is given to the movement of joints, strength and elasticity of muscles, posture, movement patterns etc. Then an individual exercise plan is developed which will be followed according to recovery and ability. Specific supportive and challenging equipment is used to help introduce and reinforce better movement habits.
A contrology teacher/consultant is a specialist who has had respective theoretical and practical training: dealing with assessment of movement function and recovery, giving advice and helping to find exercises to maintain or improve a client’s individual movement diet etc. The teacher’s role in a contrology session is:
- assessing the condition of the body, its support and movement ability;
- developing a specific exercise program according to client’s needs and current ability;
- observing the progress and adjusting the program whenever necessary;
- giving advice on the use of equipment;
- referring clients to seek out other specialists who could help in dealing with the issues even more effectively (physiotherapist, manual therapist, family physician etc);
- giving guidance for maintaining good bodily care and prevention of injuries outside the studio.

Duo session – in a duo session the teacher divides attention between 2 people. It often turns out to be very motivating and effective for the participants. It provides a good opportunity for realizing how different people’s physical needs and abilities are which in turn helps to see one’s own progress and/or possible restrictions more clearly.

Group class 1 – This is a whole studio circuit training class for those unfamiliar with a classical studio setting. Exercises are simpler and safer as the body is more supported by the apparatus. Students are expected and encouraged to start becoming independent with their own practice, assisted by a teacher of course.

Group class 2 – whole studio circuit training for experienced students. We are using quite a range of exercises with less and less support from equipment and more own body weight management. As more pieces of apparatus are becoming familiar, a better understanding of connections within the whole system (including the body itself as equipment) is formed.
Group class 3 – advanced class. Everyone’s exercise list is individual and personalized giving lots of opportunity for independence. The need for assistance has decreased significantly to the point where a client is, at least from time to time, able to work out on their own, even visiting the studio alone at less busy hours.
